The tree logo was chosen as a symbol of eternal life and and of one's family. With strength and support from deep roots and a strong trunk, a tree continues to grow no matter what is going on in the world. A Small Victory is acting as roots and trunk for bereaved families by supporting them and helping them trough their loss.
After receiving less than inadequate care following the loss of their first born, Ethan and Liz Allen knew they never wanted grieving parents to feel as lost and alone as they did during their loss and know the pain of living life in regret, wishing they had done more with their children.
Ethan and Liz created A Small Victory to support newly bereaved parents by providing them with CARE (Compassionately Alleviating Regret Everyday) Packages which act as a guide through making memories, education and finding grief support services.
A Small Victory’s primary focus is on supporting hospitals and other birth facilities to insure the adequate care of newly bereaved parents. However, they also understand how difficult the months and years following a loss may be and have developed several support programs to meet those needs.
May 2006: A Small Victory incorporated as a non-profit corporation in Washington State
2006: A Small Victory helps 13 families in it’s first year
March 2007: A Small Victory granted federal tax exempt status 501(c)(3)
2007: A Small Victory helps 19 families
2008: A Small Victory helps 131 families
A Small Victory has surpassed it's 2008 goals and is now working towards the future. With losses happening every minute we strive to continue to aid those families in need.
To date, over 200 CARE Packages have been distributed to 42 US States and 3 Canadian Territories and the UK.
